I spent probably 3 months researching fish finders with GPS navigation before I finally purchased mine and I am positive that I found one of the best fish finders on the market.
Before I tell you about the fish finder that I bought, here is what I was looking for in a fish finder:
I wanted something that was affordable. I was willing to spend what needed to be spent, but there was no reason for me to go overboard. I wanted a fish finder that had built in GPS Navigation. Until I bought my new fish finder, I had been using a hand held GPS device in combination with a fish finder to find the fishing spots I had marked. While that was better than the old way of using land markers when available, it wasn’t exactly efficient. I needed a fish finder that would be reliable. If I’m going to spend the money, it needs to last. I don’t want to have to pay for repairs or turn around and have to buy a new one in a couple of years.I started out looking at all brands of fish finders including humminbird, lowrance, eagle, garmin, and raymarine. I narrowed my search down quickly to humminbird and lowrance. I was a pretty tough call to be honest. I could have easily gone with a lowrance fish finder but for some reason, I just liked the humminbird’s better.
I went with the Humminbird 580 Combo Fish Finder and GPS Chartplotter.
To this point, it has been simply fantastic. It’s been 3 years since I purchased it and I haven’t had any problems whatsoever.
I would highly recommend it to anyone looking to buy a fish finder with GPS.
