I used this method last year for pre-scouting for our elk hunt. It worked wonders as exploration of elk hunting terrain is difficult for most people. I used the GMU (game management unit) maps from the Colorado DOW website and coupled it with Google Earth. The GMU maps indicate summer and winter range areas, migration corridors, and calving areas. It's even better if you have waypoints or GPS coordinates of your area to plug into Google earth. Give it a try and you'll be amazed.
