Wind direction matters more than anything. If the wind is in you favor you have nothing to worry about, but in Oklahoma the wind can change directions in a minute or less. Elk hunting is no different, In the mountains the wind tunnels making it more difficult to keep track of. Because of this I think it would be important to use scent lock and cover scent. It is also important to keep track of the changing direction of the wind. There are several wind tracking devices on the market, including a scent free powder that blows in the air, showing the wind direction. Good luck and keep hunting!!!!! |
