| Bass love fly rods. If you get a chance, try the new Sage "Smallmouth" and the "Largemouth" rods. They are shorter so they conform to BASS Tournament regulations and come with a special heavy fly line.
The rods were designed for the delta area of California and Mexico largemouth. Sweet.... easy to toss the largest flys. I fished with one of the designers. After using his rods, I had to have one. My son regularly uses a fly rod in our club tournaments.
We catch a lot of peacock bass on flyrods. I like a 5wt because I use smaller flys. If the wind picks up I may use a 6, 7, or even an 8wt rod.
