There was an article about Arbuckle Lake yesterday in the Sunday Oklahoman with Bass Tournament results from Arbuckle that included two 9 pound bass and one 11 pound bass.
The article was titled "Best bass lake in the state" and mentioned the 14 pound 8 ounce largemouth caught there by Alan Gilford in February of last year.
Anyway, dnmelch called me yesterday asking me if I'd read the article and seen the picture and I told him I hadn't because I don't take the Oklahoman (because of it's ou bias and shoddy political hackery). He wanted to know what I knew about the lake and if I knew anyone who fished Arbuckle.
We decided we should take a trip down there very soon so we can prove to everyone that Arbuckle is in fact NOT a great big bass lake.

It's hard to fish with dnmeclch because the dude brings deadly weather with him on every fishing trip he takes. Our first trip was walleye at Ft Cobb. Cancelled the day of due to...high winds, lightning, flash floods, and of course tornadoes in the area. Our 3 day bass fishing trip to lake eufala? Tornadoes. Oh and hail. Big hail. I've got pictures. But I'm pretty confident we can go down there and NOT catch an Oklahoma State Record Bass.
I'd like to TRY and catch a few hawgs though, so if anyone fishes the lake or has fished the lake or knows anything about it your information would be greatly appreciated.
We'll probably wait to make the trip until really early spring, that way the weather still has a chance to ruin it and/or end our lives. I'm sure we'll find plenty of company on the water after it's second monster bass showing in the Sunday paper in as many years.
