Beginning Bass Fishing Lures

If you were to put a 5 item tackle box together of beginning bass fishing lures for a novice, what would you give them? Remember their skill level...

I would include a beelte spin (because everyone's had one ), a shad colored rattle trap, a pack of pumpkin seed tube jigs, a crawdad patterned crankbait, and a Rapala suspending jerk bait in bronze.

Beginning Bass Fishing Lures...well, I started with Crappie Jigs to be honest, moved up to Road Runners, Beetle Spins, etc.

If I was giving my kid a beginner's bass fishing kit I'd include these five things:

A package of plastic berkley 7 inch power worms, with worm hooks and bullet weights.

A Rapala silver and black minnow crankbait.

A package of beetle spins.

A live bait package-- weight, hooks with leaders, swivels, and bobbers.

And a top water bait, maybe a hula popper.

I'd like to put a real spinner bait on there, or an old school rooster tail, but if I have to pick five things only, that's my beginning five.

It gives them something for everything.

If I was going to give someone a tackle box with beginning bass fishing lures I would put in 5 packes of rubber worms. I'm serious.

got to have a spinnerbait, because it is the easiest thing to throw, pretty weedles and a proven fish catcher. Some kind of little crankbait, a black with firetail worm, some kind of little jig, and a package of firecrackers for when they get bored!!!

I'm glad you added worms at the end of that!

If I were trying to help a beginning bass fisherman with 5 lures, I start with:

1: Bag of Senko's

2: Spinnerbait or Buzzbait (a child would have much more fun fishing a buzzbait.)

3: Rubber Frog (Most designs work, and can be thrown to just about any type of cover.)

4: Weedless Bass Jig (one by Arkie probably)

5: Bag of lizards or another creature bait. (Let them know these are as close to gold as you get during spawning.)

And as I handed them these things I would remind them to be patient and always vary presentations.

man I've never even used Senkos.

It's been a long time since I've seriously fished for bass, but just looking that the Senko, man I don't know. I mean the proof is obviously in the pudding but until you get me on the water and catching them with them, I'm not giving them the high praise everyone else is.

The senko's are very deadly in the spring pre-spawn. I like to fish them with no weight. They just kinda shimmy when they float down. Drives the bucketmouths nuts!!
