3rd place @ Konawa

Oudave and I had our 1st tourney of the year. Turned in 9.52lbs. (6 fish limit), good enough for 3rd place.

We started at 7:00 a.m. with the air temp of 18 degrees!!!! It was so cold, ice was forming in our rod eyes when we were reeling in our crankbaits.

Water temps ranged anywhere from 48 degrees on the inlet side to 57 in the discharge channel. Konawa is a power plant lake.

Fishing was a little slow at times but we managed 8 keepers. 4 fish on a crankbait and 4 fish on carolina rigged Lake Fork 4" craw. Not a bad way to start the season off.

congrats corry on braving the elements and collecting your bounty. Sounds like a fantastic way to start off the season to me. Do you guys fish the Sooner power plant lake this year south of Ponca?

Yes birdman we do. It is later in the year for some reason though, June 28th. Do you have any hotspots for me? I have never been that lake before, but I heard there are some nice largemouths up there though.

Corry,

I used to fish Sooner quite a bit when I lived in Stillwater. We generally had great success fishing cranks and plastics for bucketmouths and dropshotting live shad for stripers. I'll see if i can pull up a map of the lake and mark some spots.
