Boat docks

Here's a few tips on boat docks:

In some places boat docks are the only cover there is for bass. Docks also provide shade. Remember many docks have brush piles.

The best docks are old and wooden and have many cross braces under water.
Check docks that have lights and rod holders on the rail. These usually have brush piles.
Very good and silent boat control is needed to get close but not spook the fish.
Ease the boat to within accurate pitching distance.
Pitch right against the posts, specially corner posts. Just shake your Texas rigged worm at the bottom of the post. Pitch or skip your bait in the shade under the dock, as far back as you can get.
If bass do not bite your worm or lizard on the bottom, they may be suspended. Use a jerk bait, crank bait or spinner bait that runs where you can just barely see it. Get very close to the dock. This can also work on floating docks.
Find the brush piles. These may be out from the dock. Look for docks with lights and rod holders.

I am going to have to try a jerkbait. I usually just pitch a jig/pig or use a drop shot rig around the docks I fish.

Thanks,

My favorite to fish docks is with a white tube. I learned this Edwin Evers, pitch it out there and pop it up and down. That is very eractic in the water if you fish it with weighted hook. Something you might try next time. The largemouth can't stand it!!!!
