elk hunt. Day one

I'm sitting here a little after 8. Have yet to see or hear an elk. Windy as he'll. All I can smell is this damn cow urine scent wafer. It's killing me. Gonna sit hear about two more hours then head in. Typing on this phone sucks. Heard a couple of faint bugles early this morning. Chipred on the cow call a couple of times but nothing. Just heard a gunshot. Hope it's darin or Luther...

Where were you hunting? You seem to really want to take an elk. Here is some suggestions for the future for drawing on just buying elk tag across the couner. Colorado would be a first choice since you can buy across the counter. Other states with good numbers are Idaho, Oregon and Washington. I believe all those can be purchased accross the counter. On second thoughts Idaho may have changed. But, I do not think so. If I was putting in for draw states. I would go for New Mexico, Arizona, Montana, Utah in that order. All depends on the amount of funds you have available. Just a suggestion. I have hunted New Mexico, Washington and Idaho and have had great success in all three with my biggest bull coming out of New Mexico.
