Great Post Bamboo!!! You made my day. We all have those stretches where nothing seems to go right, but the adventure and desire always brings us back.

I'm going to have to agree with 2Paws. This isn't hunting, it's controlled shooting.

Could be called grocery shopping, but definately not hunting.......................UNLESS the enclosure was big, like 2500acres or more big, but even then I would not consider it to be a truely wild or fair chase hunt.

Who's it benefiting?

I am a professional guide here in Colorado and I only guide fair chase animals. We have one of the largest fenced hunting areas here in Pagosa Springs, and I will have to say that it is not hunting at all. It is observing and then shooting. Besides I could never feel good (personally ) about paying $10K and then picking my trophy! I am so glad that the books don't allow fenced critters in the books. If I can't call it in or stalk it I don't want anything to do with. If your old and have a butt load of money go for it, but if your an able body person, I say get out there and hone your hunting skills to do it on your own or at least with a reputible guide that does it in the wild!

Game proof fences are quite high and expensive to build. Enclosing a large area would be very expensive, hence the animal being hunted probably has little if any chance to escape. This is not fair chase, and I do not consider taking an animal under such conditions to be hunting. It is legal and I feel ethical if the animal is not wasted. If the person killing the animal wants to mount the head or rack I have no problem with that, he paied his money he can do what he wants with it. Regular fencing usually 4-5 feet high is no impediment to the movment of deer or elk and taking an animal in those conditions is fair chase and in my opinion is hunting.
