Birdman was there this weekend shooting them up with Dogman (they didn't invite us AHEM). I'm sure they had a field day even though Birdman told me on his way there that the prospects were not as good as in the past.

I don't know about that though, because on our way out to new mexico through southwest Kansas and Northwestern Oklahoma we saw tons and tons of pheasants and we saw nearly as many on the way back through...

Had a great time on the opener. Bird populations were tough to gauge as the majority of crops were still in the fields where we were hunting. Add to this it was 80 degrees plus both days and hunting was pretty tough. We mainly hunted grass corners of corn and milo circles. As expected, most birds were shot in the few fields that were cut. I think we shot 40 total. I talked to other hunters in the same area that were fortunate enough to walk some uncut milo and they hammered them. I'm sure once all the crops are harvested and colder temps bunch birds up, it will be great shooting.

I'll be shooting geese starting next weekend. Can't wait.
