Small creek Cat fishing

I was just wondering whom all fishes for cats in small creeks. There is a creek down the rd from me that I have never cat fished, caught the heck out of some huge carp. The creek is roughly 15/20 ft across and on average anywhere from 1-5ft deep, in other places 10ft+. Anyways I was just wondering what the cat fishing might be like is something like that, worth checking out or don’t waste my time? Any input will be nice,
Thanks
Fabian

Creek fishing....you bet!

I live in the southern part of Houston, but there is a tiny little creek that runs less than half a mile from my house. You can see the cats spawning right now upstream, and believe me, they're brave enough that if you don't set your hook when they hit the line, they'll pick it clean, and then surface about a foot away from where you're sitting, holding your beer and rod up on the banks, just to wish you all the best for feeding them. I went further down the stream, and you can see the cats swimming in schools, four or five at a time, in shallow parts not more than a foot deep. Also, plenty of crappie jumping out of the water. These fish aren't scared, and if you like fishing with minnows but can't find any, taking an aquarium net across where they're spawning gives you enough live bait for a few hours. I doubt this creek is more than 3 feet deep, but it's a good 20 feet across in some places...when it rains, you can definitely tell, and that's some of your best fishing. You'd be surprised what you can pull out of a creek that's right in your backyard.
