Learn something new everyday!

Went fishing at the local powerhouse on the PEE DEE River last night, and low and behold, couldn't catch any shad with a cast net. Well that’s not the first time this has happened so I moved around to the usual shad spots and still came up short. I then noticed a young guy throwing under the main catwalk, yes under the catwalk with a 6' net! I proceeded to watch this guy, and throw after throw he would pull up 15-20 at a time. I approached him and told him how unusual this was, like any good catman he proceeded to teach me how this tactic was done. Took a few times, but to make a long story short, I am confident I can catch bait in the dead wheel at anytime. Just goes to show you, that our close bond as catmen, has even reached the younger generation. This guy couldn't have been more than 17 and was willing to share his expertise. I then told him a few of my honey holes in the main lake, after he said he was fond of catch and release of course. Going to try the main lake Tuesday evening, wish me luck!
Thanks
Jaylon
