Noodling Huge Catfish

Watch these two guys noodle these huge catfish. A couple of flat heads about 25 and 40 pounds. Those two guys are buff though, so they didn't seem to have much of a problem. Me on the other hand, I get my arm all the way through one of those big cats, I may not come back up!

go fishing with me

It's easy, and you don't have to be crazy to do it. Anyone interested needs to send me an email at ryan@huntandfishfinders.com we will hook up this summer and go. It can even be tapped for web footage. I've got to warn!!!! This can be very addicting, although not proven to cause cancer. I saw the video on u tube, those guys are idiots. First it's not necessary to put your whole arm in the fish's mouth. This will cause more harm than good. It is also a good idea to use gloves, it helps save the skin on your fingers.

hey drake,

what's the best time of year to noodle? Late May/Early June??

I'm definitely going to come down this year for my first ever noodling excursion. We need to parlay that weekend into a mini hunt and fish finder walleye tourney on Canton..

Let me know so I can book some tickets.

hot

It's best to go when the water is hot, otherwise you freeze you butt off. No really, the water warms and the bigger fish start to hole up or go to deeper water to cool off. They move from the lakes into the rivers and creeks when it rains. The water rises and the fish move in and become trapped, do to the water going down. They then hole up in the creek or river banks, hollow logs and or brush piles. They gather here to lay their eggs. After their eggs hatch the fish wait for the water to rise so they can return to the lakes. Sometimes this may take several weeks or months. This allows people to catch them in transition from one place to another. Sometimes a deep hole with brush may have 5 to 6 fish caught with no where to go. I have even herd of fish being eaten by raccoons and other animals, due to the low levels of water.
