Rutting Activity

Anyone seeing anything that would indicate the rut getting closer? Heard a buck fight in Kansas last week. Little bucks are wanting to but big bucks not really chasing yet.

The bucks should start cruising pretty soon. Headn back to Kansas Thursday. My buddy shot a 146 gross (132) a week ago Saturday. Hope the rut is in full force when I get there.

Corry,

I talked to my brother last week and he said they were chasing them around pretty good.

He's in Nebraska hunting right now. Pretty sure it's an either or whitetail or mule deer hunt.

I've heard now that they are starting to get pretty active. The one thing I kind of gauge the rut on is how many deer are dead on the side of the road. Believe it or not, it is usually a good indication of where they are at in the rut.

I managed to shoot a decent 11 pt on Friday in Kansas with my bow. Chasing was just getting started good. There were several deer that had been hit on I35 along the way.

I'll be headed up to Kansas in December to shoot my deer. I hope he's a big one.

From my sources, rut is almost in peak in Kansas. Bucks very interested in the tail and squaring off against other bucks. With the warm weather they're having across much of the state, rut might still be on during your rifle hunt Winkler.

Cheers,

Starting to see alot more deer around here in the middle of the day, which usually means the big boys are starting to get active.

I hope so but we usually do pretty well in our area anyway.
