| Wisconsin DNR & Serious Bullet Fragmentation Lead Poisoning Bullet Fragmentation Lead Poisoning is a serous concern! Wisconsin DNR xrayed deer meat & found too much lead fragmenting in the deer meat. Their advice is to use bonded bullets or all copper bullets to reduce or eliminate lead poisoning. I have a 243 WIN & a 243/06 Wildcat & am loading the new Remington CoreLokt Ultra Bullet [CLUB]for deer hunting here in Wisconsin. I have a website showing some terminal bullet tests, - of the lead core bullets the Remington CLUB was the best. Also have many ballistics tables on center fire caliber cartridges & the lead on running coyotes, etc. HUNTING SHOOTING FRAMES PAGES Lots of luck deer hunting & varmint hunting. - udarrell / Darrell |

| Administrator | I had never considered this either until I read an article about it last month in Field and Stream (I think it was F&S). But in that article, they basically ended up saying it was due to the processing of the deer because the processor didn't properly inspect and remove any lead from the animal before processing. They basically said there is really little lead fragmentation when the bullet impacts the animal and that the lead fragmentation comes during processing. That makes sense, but I see no reason not to just be careful. Better safe than sorry.
