In WI we had a return to the EARN-A-BUCK regs.
No one likes these regs & we need to eliminate them for the 2009 deer season here in Wisconsin.

At this point-in-time, the WI 2008 deer kill was down 20% from last year. WI DNR now believes their deer population estimates were too high.

I didn't see a single deer; we still have a four day antlerless season this coming Thursday Dec 11th through Sunday.

It's an early winter with cold weather & snow. I got rid of my very old 4-wheel drive Chevy pickup, it would go anywhere. I need to get another one for hunting!

How was deer hunting for you this year? Describe your deer kills, weapon used, cartridge & bullet weight type, etc.

I believe I heard that it will be a record harvest in Oklahoma this year. No thanks to me though.

In my deer mgmt unit & some other units, you have to shoot a doe & tag it before you can shoot a buck.

I called DNR concerning the following scenario:
If I shoot a doe that is down in plain view & absolutely dead & there is a trophy buck of-a-lifetime offering a killing shot, do I have to walk over & tag the doe while the trophy buck of-a-lifetime exits into the next township or county?

The answer was, - that I had to walk over & tag the dead doe before I earned the right to shoot at the trophy buck of-a-lifetime! Nearly every deer hunter hunts to get a good shot at a nice buck, those regs jeopardize the central deer hunting motivation for a majority of hunters.

That is good news except for your misfortune. Maybe you could do some Feral Hog hunting.

That would probably be my luck, have a doe down and have a boone and crocket looking at me and can't do anything about.
