Deer sighting frequency while hunting...

I was talking to my g/f about hunting and she said "hunting turkeys was hard, are deer that hard?" (As she has never been deer hunting YET) and i explained that deer are somewhat "easier" than turkeys to hunt, simply b/c of turkeys high senses, which are somewhat more acute than deer i have learned. My question is: how many of you fellas can kill a deer (doe or really anything) "whenever" you want. By "whenever", i dont mean literally any time, but i mean do you guys usually see atleast one shootable doe or young buck every day when you go hunting. I guess if its legal to bait then its much easier to see deer, especially if you can get a pattern going for the deer a month or so before the season, so that they come like clockwork every day. Do you guys think there are more days when you see deer then days when you dont see anything whatsoever? Thanks

I see legal to shoot deer every day I hunt, but getting that shot off is another matter. If I see less than three legal deer per day it is a really bad day. The most I have shot in a single day to date is 5. Missouri allows only one buck per year with a rifle, but allows unlimited does at $7. per tag, resident or Non-resident, after you purchase your buck tag. In my experience turkeys are much easier though, possibly due to the huge numbers here.

I would say it really depends on a number of factors, hunting with a bow, muzzleloader, or rifle, and mostly have you thoroughly scouted, and where you are hunting. There have been times where I've seen and possibly could of shot 20 different deer. Of course, those days are exceptions, especially when hunting with a bow. Sorry to say I've only hunted turkey enough times to count on one hand as there aren't many in my area. Anyways, I would agree with you that turkeys have more acute senses, but it really is all relative to how well you've prepared, and the area you are hunting.

I find that if you hunt by watching primary trails morning and evenings, you will see deer just about every time you go out. Of course you need to consider wind direction in relation to you and the trail, and you need to be concealed and sit quietly with not much movement.

You will see deer if you can apply the principles above. Now some hunters aren't aware of what a primary trail looks like. A primary deer trail will only be about 6 or 8 inches wide and will be worn down to the soil because of high deer traffic.
