Opening day of Oklahoma black powder was a best ever for me and my hunting partner, Although neither killed a deer. My partner and i hunted the same blind, much like we normally do. Having someone there helps pass the time and also puts another needed set of eyes wondering around. The day was unreal with deer moving everywhere and young bucks chasing does. we had spotted several young bucks when I saw movement, throught the binoculars I quickly noticed a shooter buck. He looked to be a ten maybee a twelve point with tines longer that I have ever seen or want to discuss for now. His mass was so incredible that it looked as though it were still in velvet. He stepped from one ceader to the other as I raised my gun to the window, looked through the scope and he was gone. several minutes passed as i saw movement return just the way it came. I had a shot for a split second at the body but was not sure of the deer. Now I can only wonder what would of happened had I taken the shot. Time passed quickly as deer moved everywhere. Two shooters poped out of nowhere fifty yards out. My partner quickly raised his gun and zeroed in. Both bucks spotted us and looked in our direction. The bucks moved back lined up in a straight line away from us. My partner fired at the bigger of the two in the back. The front deer lunger and both retreated. We reloaded and looked for blood only to find half the antler from the buck in front. What a morning I said to him, we both laughed and neither have stopped thinking about it since. We can only hope next weekend will give us another chance with better results. Good luck and happy hunting
