Opening Day Oklahoma Rifle Season

Tomorrow is opening day of rifle season for whitetail deer here in Oklahoma.

I cannot wait! I figure, if I can medically coax myself into sleep early tonight, then that just gives me a couple more hours of rest and a couple of hours less I have to wait.

And if I don't take something to help me sleep, I'll be awake all night like a little kid before Christmas with visions of Pope and Young dancing through my head.

That's funny! That's what happened to me last night. Up since 5:00 a.m. following a deer hunting dream. Hopefully sleep will come easily tonight, but I doubt it.

Wishing you guys the best of luck tomorrow. Make sure and take photos. I'll be opening the goose season here in Colorado up with bang.

Remember, anything under 150 is a management buck

I didn't see a single damn deer today.

I did see about 30 turkey. Is it turkey or turkeys? There's a monster buck lurking near though. The guy on the other side of the lease from me said he saw a huge buck when he was pulling in (about 2 hours late).

I'm glad I'm not the only one. I'm hoping the deer just weren't moving much today, because I saw squat. This morning it was raining pretty good at daylight. I was glad to be dry in my blind.

I think its turkeys.

This morning was not any good for me either or for anyone I talked to.

This evening I say one doe right at dark. My dad had a little spike try to get in the blind with him he said.

Anybody's luck change yet? I imagine most have been busy with the holiday. I didn't see a single deer on my place until yesterday. Then I saw five. Two does, two fawns, and a 2.5 year old buck. I took one of the fawns. Will be some delicious eating. Hope to get a buck next weekend, but if not, I still have late bowseason!

Saw one doe early Friday morning and then 5 more as I was getting out of the blind.

Considered shooting a doe but decided against it. Probably plenty of opportunity to take one in the next few days...
