Are the deer in Oklahoma starting to get bigger?

I think the new regulations on the deer in Oklahoma are really doing the herd good. In my opinion the deer here are starting to get bigger as far as rack size goes. Here's a little proof of that:

State record deer: Two deer taken in Pushmataha County during the 2007 gun season are potentially state records for typical whitetails.

Both mounts will be on display at the Backwoods Hunting and Fishing Show, which opens Friday in the Travel and Transportation Building at State Fair Park.

"Both of these deer are going to be 190-plus,” said Dale Welchel, owner of the Backwoods Show.

One whitetail already has received a Boone & Crockett score, but the larger of the two will not be officially scored by a panel until the Oklahoma Wildlife Expo in September, Welchel said.

The deer will be showcased on the Whitetail Wall of Fame. Hunters interested in having their deer scored for Cy Curtis or displayed on the wall should call Ron Owens at 681-1333.

I can't wait to get a look at these deer!!

definitely

The deer in Oklahoma are definitely getting bigger. This is true because people are starting to understand that if they shoot the young bucks that they will never have the quality deer herd needed to grow mature bucks. Tv also demonstrates what can be achieved by managing your herd. The new products on the market, such as food plotting material are also one of the reasons for larger more mature deer. A healthier deer means a healthier rack.
