Savage arms

Just wondering if any of you have shot a new savage rifle lately? I recently bought one and love the new accu trigger that now comes factory. I gives me the opportunity to have a custom target trigger on a stock rifle. Iv'e never put a bunch of money into a gun but now am thinking of having custom triggers put into all of my hunting rifles. My accuracy has greatly increased and so has my confidence. please let me know if you feel the same way.

When I was 19, I did a guy in Laos with a rifle shot at a thousand yards in high wind. Maybe eight or even ten guys in the world could have made that shot.

funny but that would of been in what 1995? what were you doing in Laos in 1995? I now have a scope made to shoot long distance, but am yet to really try it out. It is an ATN. anyone ever used one of their products?

I've used your ATN scope. I liked it, but struggled with the eye relief...no different than any other scope in that regard, but I definitely liked it better than the one I used Elk Hunting this fall.

Hands down, the best mod to any rifle is customizing trigger pull. This is a must on all my rifles. Can generally get this done at any gun shop for a nominal fee. Lightening the trigger pull is an absolute must for long distance shooting. I wouldn't even consider taking a rifle elk hunting without this done. You need to have all the confidence in the world when shooting a trophy elk at 500+ yards in the high country.

Trigger work is THE #1 thing requested by people who walk in my door. All my personal triggers on my guns have very light-but still safe/reliable triggers. After reviewing extensively on several examples of savage's accutrigger,I personally don't like them. All they are is rifle version of the glock safe-t-trigger. I really don't care for the 2 stage like pulling middle,then pulling trigger itself. I very much prefer a glass smooth no movement perceptible single stage trigger or better yet a single set trigger such as canjar triggers made in denver,or factory triggers on CZusa rifles. The CZusa triggers are the best factory triggers I've ever seen-even if I'm not crazy about the rest of them. I've never seen a factory rifle trigger (bolt actions) yet that I couldn't rework with the existing factory parts to make a really nice trigger. Now as to the best conventional single stage triggers I've ever seen on factory triggers,the new browning X-bolt has the smoothest,lightest triggers I've EVER felt on a factory,out of box rifle-they are so good,I wouldn't even feel the need to rework them further than adjusting the factory adjustable pull weight!

I purchased a savage 7mm wsm before I went elk hunting this year and didn't have a problem with the trigger mechanism. I'm not sure how it really helps a whole lot in regards to safety but I can see where I guess if something hit the side of the trigger it would keep it from firing...

As far as the accutrigger aspect goes, I had no idea how firm my trigger was until I shot my brother's gun. I loaned him mine to take on his Nebraska deer hunting trip since he'd removed the scope from his deer rifle and didn't get his new one in on time. Anyway, when we went to shoot, he showed me the difference between my trigger and his after he'd adjusted his trigger.

It was a major difference. I couldn't believe it. It didn't bother me so much to continue shooting with mine, but he flat out was irritated with my trigger. In fact, he ended up not even using my gun because of it.

So I'll be adjusting my accu trigger soon.

I don't shoot enough to be able to notice the difference between types of triggers so I'm sure for now the Savage Accu Trigger will be fine for me. For someone more seasoned, it might be a much bigger deal.

Don't get me wrong,for the man on a budget that can't afford a browning x-bolt or a cz,savage,and wants to be able to just take rifle out of box,scope it,sight it in and hunt with it,accutrigger is the best thing to come out in lower priced rifles for a LONG time.
