Canyon Lake Guide Report & the Highland Chain of Lakes

Water clear; 82 degrees; 908':
Largemouth are fair to good at first light tight to stumps and laydowns in
4'- 8' using watermelon JDC Skip-N-Pop topwaters (www.jdcbaits.com), wacky rigged 4" Whacky Sticks (www.cremelure.com) and Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Traps (www.rat-l-trap.com) worked parallel to breaklines. Upriver, the most activity is at first light. Bass are holding very tight to brushpiles where Whacky Sticks, dead-sticking plastic jerkbaits and Texas rigged 4" Ring Worms produce best until mid-morning when the baitfish and bass pull out into deeper water to suspend during the heat of the day.

Smallmouth are slow to fair over rock piles in 20'-35' on Smokin' Green
Devils Tongues and camo 4" JDC Drop Shot worms on drop shot rigs.

Crappie reports from Canyon Bait House have been, surprisingly good with
fish to 13" caught on minnows at the fishing dock and along the bankline.

Channel Catfish are only fair to 6 lbs on Black Saltys and minnows.
