| Canyon Lake Guide Report Canyon Lake: Water gin clear; 62 degrees; 907.15': Largemouth are good to 6 lbs. in 2'-12' along chunk & boulder rock inside of vertical timber w/deeper water nearby using Texas rigged watermelon-red Creme Scoundrel worms, 4" pumpkin Ring Worms and smoke-red Snap Back tubes. Bass are schooled up by year class roaming openwater flats and creek channels feeding on shad on the surface. Spinnerbaits plastic swim baits and lipless crankbaits will be your best lure choices when you run across surface activity. Terminator football head jigs & silver Pirk Minnows (around pods of shad) are producing when worked down secondary points and/or natural submerged rock jetties in 12'-25' Smallmouth are very good over shallow rockpiles and along bluff ledges in 3'-10' on smoke colored 4" inch JDC grubs, 1/4 oz. Rat-L-Traps and split shot rigged Devil's Tongues. Stripers are improving but surface activity is short-lived over areas with humps in 40'-60' vertically jigging Pirk Minnows, weighted white Snap Back jerkbaits and cranking deep diving Rogues.
