Highland Lakes (Buchanan & LBJ) Guide Report

Lake Buchanan: Water clear; 70 degrees; 1010.79':
Largemouth are good early and late in 5'-10' on Blue Shad
Terminator spinnerbaits, blue back Bleeding Shad Rat-L-Trap,
pumpkin-chartreuse Whacky Sticks. Topwaters are good
at first light over flats w/wood cover. Working bluff ledges
w/a smoke JDC curl tail grub or smoke-red tube will produce.
Stripers are fair from Shaw Island to the dam drifting live bait,
trolling, casting white Snap Back jerkbaits rigged on a weighted
EWG Bait Jerker hook (by Falcon Lures) and Spoiler Shads to
shallow schooling fish.
White Bass are fair along mainlake points trolling Shad Raps,
1-1/2" Spoiler Shads and Terminator In-Line spinners.
Crappie are fair over brushpiles on minnows at night.

Lake LBJ: Water clear; 72 degrees; 824.80':
Black Bass are good early and all day under cloud in 6'-12' at
laydowns, stumps and brushpiles using watermelon-red twitch
baits, wacky rigged green-pumpkin Whacky Sticks, blue/white/char.
Terminator spinnerbaits (Okla. blade) and bumping a crankbait off
of laydowns and stumps.
Stripers are good at night on Spoiler Shads and In-Line spinners.
White Bass are very good at night on 1-1/2" natural Spoiler
Shads and crappie jigs.
Crappie are good at night under lights on minnows and crappie
jigs.
Channel Catfish are good on trotlines using minnows and crawfish.
Yellow and Blue Catfish are good to 16 lbs on live bait.
