I was recently called by a buddy about the lack of water coming out of the saltplains lake in Oklahoma. After a short conversation I made the trip to see what the fuss was all about. Shocked by the scene of dead and dying fish everywhere, we aproached the game wardens overlooking the scene who told us there was nothing they could do. The fish were dying because of the lack of oxygen in the water, and if they were to let more water out of the lake it would endanger the fish in the lake. As fishermen we did our part by handfishing our limit of three flatheads apeice. It was to late for some of the biggest weighing at least 70 pound and maybee even 80. As a group we took home thirty and plan to return as soon as possible. The sad part is the number of carp and channel cat already dead, believed to be in the thousands with more just waiting there turn. All we can do is ask god, (please let it rain).
