| Spoke report Haven't fished much this summer, but got to hit the Spokane this morning for a couple of hours. Beautiful morning, however the water was really warm. The usual sz14-16 tan caddis in the air but nothing looking up. Most of the fish were deeper, probably looking for cooler water. Saw a couple stones so I tied on a prince with legs and promptly got a couple nice bows. I know the Spoke doesn't have a ton of stones, but I think there are enough that they will take stone nymphs opportunistically when available. Others were caught on sz14 PT soft hackle, although not really on the swing or rise. Usually right at the top of a run where water is coming off rocks into a hole. I would just drop it in and dead drift it out. Probably any PT would have worked here. Early on I hadn't caught anything and an osprey dropped right across the river from me and took a fish and it made me laugh about how much more efficient and graceful that fisherman was than me. Also saw four deer, two being nice bucks. Beautiful morning on the water. Thanks Eli |
