Sunday night under the lights/w pics

Headed out Sunday night for a little fishing under the lights. Took my 8 yr old son with me and then a buddy of mine met us there also. This was my 1st night trip of the season and I am really glad that I took my son along. We weren't on the water 5 minutes and Matt landed his 1st walleye ever, a 15 1/2" keeper! Not bad for a 1st timer!:winking0070:

We fished for a couple more hours before finding a spot to set up on for the night bite. Matt's keeper was the only fish landed before dark. We did a little searching for some baitfish for awhile and found a nice little hump that we set up on. Things got a little boring while waiting for things to happen(According to my son anyway). He ended up passing out on the floor of the boat before 10:30. Fish finally moved in about 11:30 and then it was Game on! He eventually woke up as I think he got tired of getting wet from the dipnet. Once he woke up and we showed him what to do, he was catching them just as fast as we were. This is the 1st trip at night that I have caught a ton of walleye. Between the 3 of us I bet we landed close to 50 walleye and 50+ BIG white bass. We brought home 11 walleye and 15 whites. My son wanted to keep our 30 WB until I told him he whould have to help me clean them!!!!!:croc: He changed his mind really quick and we then worked on C&R. We fished til about 3:30 and they were still hitting pretty good when we quit. Decided to head home since it would be after 5 am when we got home and after 6am before we would get fish cleaned and everything put away. Trying to decide where to go later this week. It's either crappie under the lights in KS or whites&eyes around home. Might even think about giving Sherman a try since I heard the night bite up there was getting pretty good.

That's some nice fishing right there!

Those white bass are all good sized.

What's the limit on walleye there? Is there a length limit?
18 inches on Walleyes here at Canton, which sucks because we catch a ton of walleye that are just short of the length limit at about 17 7/8 inches and they tend to shrink just a little bit.

If you catch fish like that on a regular basis I'm gonna have to make a trip up your way!

This lake is a 15" minimum. In Nebraska, you can have 4 eyes with only one over 22". Some of our lakes are 18" lakes too. Dealt with that a couple weeks ago. We caught over 200 walleye's between 2 boats and only had 1 keeper.

Now that the night bite is starting, we'll catch the whites and a few walleye like this throughout July. Then they start schooling up and chasing shad during the day.

If you feel the need, come on up and I'll take you fishin!

You're right west of my buddy Charles in Papillion. I may have to try and make it up there in August.

Just got home from the Omaha area about an hour ago. Spent a few days out there with the wife and kids.

I am getting ready to head out the door now to head back over and see if we can catch a few more!

Report coming SOON!
