Controlled-hunt applications open
Hunters can now submit their applications for the 2008-09 controlled hunts, administered by the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation, at Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation.
Hunters have until May 15 to apply online. All hunters must pay a $5 application fee.

who has or hasn't applied for the controlled hunts?

It's only 5 dollars, why not take a shot!

I haven't yet but plan on it.

5 dollars at a chance to draw an elk tag. I'll take those odds for that amount of money.

I think they are talking about the newly created limited seasons for elk and bear?? Similar to applying in Kansas for Elk tags on Fort Riley army base.

They are hunts on designated public hunting lands for deer,turkey,elk,and quail. It is a really good program and they are usually lands that are closed to some of the seasons or are not usually open to public hunting. So they are really premium hunts!!

Last year I drew into a rifle hunt @ Canton Lake for deer. Canton is bow hunting only. Saw plenty of good deer just not quite big enough

And the hunt actually took place before the rifle season.
