How many of you buy hunting supplies online?

I was looking at Hunting Supplies at Sportsman's Warehouse the other day in anticipation for the Ek Hunting trip I'll hopefully be taking to New Mexico. (Yeah I know, it's still 6 months away and that's IF I get drawn).

That place is kind of expensive. I'll buy hunting stuff from there because unlike places like Bass Pro where they are too busy, Sportsman's Warehouse will go out of their way to help you.

Last year, I spent quite a bit of money at Sportsman's Warehouse because when I went there looking for ammunition, they called all over the place trying to find me the load I was looking for. I needed 7mm Ultra Mag in 150 grain or bigger. They didn't have it so two different guys spent at least 15 minutes calling other gun shops to find it for me. After that I decided even though they may be a bit expensive I'll give them the bulk of my business.

But with six months to go before my Elk hunt there's really no reason for me to buy anything locally if I can get a good deal ONLINE. Cabelas is a great place as far as selection, but if you search hard enough you can find cheap hunting supplies online at a variety of different shops. Sometimes you can use overstock or nextag or one of those other lowest price type places but a lot of times they don't have much in the area of hunting supplies.

If anyone knows a good shooting supply store or outdoor gear store please post it up.

I'm helping a friend get their brick and mortar shooting supply store get their online presence going and I know they will have great prices because they do so much volume. You can check them out when their online store is finished at Shooting Supply - Buy Guns and Optics Online at our firearms store.. They are good people too.

I'm still in fishing mode right now though. I buy a lot of fishing stuff online at eBay. Almost all of my tackle is bought online, save for last minute purchases. I don't buy Rods and Reels online but have bought a couple of reels on Ebay.

I buy probably 50% of my hunting and fishing gear online. I like shopping classified sites such as craigslist, gunbroker, etc. I don't mind purchasing used gear or guns and quite often find deals i just can't turn down. I think there needs to be more options though as it seems bass pro and cabelas are about the only places worth visiting as other stores don't really have much of anything listed. You could always buy direct from manufacturer, but you'll generally pay full price. Box stores like Sportsmans, Gander mtn, ****'s etc could substantially increase sales you would think, if they had online ordering.

I like to see what I'm getting. If I know exactly what it is I will buy online but otherwise I want it in my hands.

I've had pretty good luck so far using ebay. Although I did buy one lucky craft crankbait that was defective.

I bought a shimano reel that the seller said there were something wrong with it. So I took a chance on it and got it really cheap. When I got it I tighten the worm gear up on it and has worked perfectly ever since
