Mule Deer Question?

What are the top five best states to kill a monster mule deer?

I can tell you where it's NOT. Oklahoma.

Corry I think the further north you go, the bigger the mule deer get as a general rule.

Darin and Luther seem to have no problems bagging nice mule deer to put on their walls every year in Kansas.

I've never hunted deer north of Kansas but with all the food they have to eat there I'm sure they can get as big as they want. I also helps that there is virtually no pressure on them at all. At least until we get there.

In my home state of Colorado there is good hunting in the limited draw hunt areas. Wyoming, Utah, and Montana have some real good places as well. I would think any state with a decent population and limited hunting area is capable of devloping good mulies. They need time to reach their full potential.

I got my best muley in Wyoming a long time ago in Sheridan County. I have hunted once in Montana with no luck. I now only hunt in my home state of Colorado but others I know who have hunted in Utah have told me there are some monsters over there if you know where to go. I also have heard the plaines of eastern Montana are good . In Colorado the limited draw areas I know for sure are good are 44 and 61. There are others that are probably just as good or better. Private land is also likely to be better, but access will cost you.

I've killed several good mullies in Kansas. The biggest one was a few years ago and we figured it scored in the 170s.

That is a real nice looking buck. I haven't seen one that good in Colorado for about 10 years. Congragulations.
