We tried it last Friday night. Two of us only managed 11 keepers and a ton of dinks. I think that the crappie were a little unsettled due to the introduction of new water into the lake. I know that two weeks ago the lake was about 1 1/2' shy of full. I did not look at the USGS site to see what the level was last week, but it had come up a good bit. I do know that the lake was about a foot higher than from the previous week. A rock that I had gotten out of the boat on to retrieve a hung anchor two weeks ago was now under water.

We are going this Friday to try it again. I sure hope the big crappie have settled back down and are in the mood to battle. By the way, we also found that the crappie that did bite seemed to prefer minnows. My partner, Roy, out fished me. I was using only jigs and he was using a combination of jigs and minnows. The few keepers we caught came from varying depths. Any where from 5' down to nearly 24'. Go figure?
