| Tagged out in NY and on my way to Maine Well, My NY season is finished. Just a trip to Maine to deep sea fish and try for a June Long beard. Went out to one of my favorite spots and set down by one of my favorite trees. It was sunny but very chilly. No gobbling early, so I decided to make a little call. A few clucks on the Black Widow Trumpet bring no responses of any kind. A few more clucks and I hear a bird fly down. He has to be close. Another cluck and I see the top of a tail fan headed my way. I wish I could tell you that he gobbled his brains out and that it was a calling duel, but that is not the case. He just strutted in quietly. At 30 yards I see the heavy beard. The Nitro's lay him down hard. 1 3/8 inch spurs 10 inch beard and 21 pounds 13 ounces. My NY season is done! Thanks Brenden |
