I've never had hunting dogs other than the two labs I have now. I will probably never own any other either. They are gentle to my child, obedient to me and would retrieve anything I shoot, anything. My grandmother had two skunks get into her basement. My best friend danny and I live trapped them with a piece of dryer vent pipe, an easter basket and two old rags. Yes you herd it right! There wasn't much else down there. I have created more with less, trust me. Anyways, we took them one by one to the field to be lain to rest with a savage 204( awesome caliber I recommend for coyotes). Two weeks later I busted a covey from the same area with my labs and my 20 gauge ultra light jammed after one shot. Both dogs returned retrieving a skunk apiece. They obviously know that I am a good shot. The moral of the story is don't shoot it if you don't want my dogs to retrieve it.
