Question

A buddy of mine was out for the goose opener this weekend. While hunting out of a pit, a yote opened up full throtle and charged toward their spread for a quick meal. Someone in the pit made a noise and the yote took off. Next day, same time, yote does the same thing and charges the deeks. This time, my buddy was ready and had a .223 in the pit with him and whiffed at 120 yards. My question is: Do you think it is illegal to be in possession of a rifle (w/lead ammo) when hunting waterfowl?

I don't think it is. I looked for a law and couldn't find anything that said you can't. I'm pretty lazy and may have missed something. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong.

I'm sure mere possession isn't enough. The grey area for me is once it's discharged?

I guess it depends on what you're shooting at and what you have licenses for.
