A part of accepting Christ, is a sense of obligation to spread his word out of concern for the souls of others.

Thanks for being concerned Bowhunter. As for my soul it is safe. My religious background is a bit of a mixture and fairly simple.

If you think about it, there are hundreds if not thousands of religions and sub-branches of religions. 80% of those say you will burn in hell (or equivalent) if you don't follow their book or their interpretation of somebody else's book. That's a hell (only small pun intended) of a mixture, so your soul is probably screwed.
:EDIT: Just so people are aware I do "believe" in Jesus. I just believe he was a real person who taught his teachings of peace and fellowship. He was probably also a skilled healer for his time. What I don't believe is all the supernatural things that have been said about him.

There is a book that I think you might like. It's called, "More than a carpenter". It's by Joshua McDowell. He used to think the same things that you do. You might find it interesting.

What about the things he said about himself? Like about him saying he was God.

More about our religious backgrounds

Hi Bowhunter-

I too am a Baptist....raised by a very harsh autocratic "Christian" who ruined it for me for some years.

Makes all the difference when you find a church that teaches the 'how to live' part, not just 'dip 'em' and 'drop 'em'.

Many believers do not have the joy of their faith because no one ever taught them.

That's what I love about my church. We're all a pretty tight nit group. We all hang out together. My best friends and I play music in a christian band together. It makes all the difference when you go to a church that actually lives what they preach.
