Thumbs up Apalachicola FL- Inshore & Offshore Fishing Report

Inshore…. March fishing has been off and on. The winds have not allowed us to do a lot of fishing but when we do get a decent day to go out the fish are either taking the rods from you- or slow to bite. The bad news is that the catfish are back in full swing now because of the recent rise in water temperatures. The water is now around 70 degrees which makes the fish both in the deep holes and along the flats, it’s been changing daily. Captain Dwayne’s party caught over 100 fish a couple days ago (we know this because the kids were keeping track). Many of the fish caught were too small to keep, but in the mix were several keeper sized Redfish, Sheepshead and Trout which were all caught and released by the Kuhbander and Cross party’s from Tennessee.

The Watson party from the Orlando area really brought in the fish- their captain took them to several spots and finally located the fish. They caught 29 keeper Trout and Whiting within a 30 minute time frame then they had to leave the captains little “hotspot” to run from the rain showers that have plagued us this Easter weekend…

Offshore.... Finally I was able to get a couple boats out for one day of deep sea fishing this weekend- between the fronts of high wind and rainy weather. They caught several grouper and triggerfish and could have loaded the coolers down with the snapper that they caught and released. They stated that it was hard to catch grouper when the snapper were grabbing the bait before it could hit half way to the bottom. They moved around to several different GPS locations to see what was going on out there. The end result: Snapper large and small are pretty much everywhere, and biting very well! Grouper, when you are able to get your bait to the bottom are hungry and were anxious to bite bait...

Snapper season opens on April 15th and several of my boats are already booked. I have a few boats still open, so call early to insure that you will be in on the first few days of snapper season opening. This is the time we can catch all those beauties that we had throw back earlier in the year…. Its pay back time boys!

Early-mid spring is the time to go fishing, the water’s warming the suns shining brighter and the fish are always hungry….

The phones have been ringing off the hook- it looks like people are trying to book their charters early this year.

We still have dates open at this time.

So, if you’re looking for experienced, friendly, native guides give us a call 850-653-2622

We’d love to take you fishing!
