OK, now that the shenanigans of the 2004 turkey contest are over, I need your input.

What can we do to make sure that these things don't happen?

Here is how my system is set up:

When a member votes, a tracking cookie is registered within the polling system that locks them out from voting again. No matter what they do, they can't place another vote from that member name that is why you have to be logged in to even see the voting poll in the first place.

Nothing can stop someone from registering multiple emails and names like happened yesterday, except careful watching of the log files behind the scenes of the site.

I do like the idea of a minimum post count before gaining entry into a photo contest. I am not sure if there is a way to limit the voting to those with a minimum post count though, although I could easily cross-reference the names of those who voted with their post counts.

Feel free to give me your suggestions. This is an open forum thread for all to discuss.
