Thunderstruck--TWICE!!

This morning my dad and I have probably experienced the best day of turkey hunting together. We shot our first spring double together on two separate setups.
We entered the woods about 5am and sat down to listen for the first gobbles of the day. At 5:15 we heard the first of many. We then walked closer to the gobbles. We crossed a small creek and set up. The bird then gobbled again and my dad and I just looked at each other not realizing we set up a lot closer than we expected. The bird was no farther than 60-70 yards on a side hill. I made a few tree yelps with my new Thunder gut slate and the bird responded. A couple minutes later I tried the same sequence and the bird gobbled again but sounded like he was on the ground this time. I put the call down and within a few minutes we saw the red head coming up over the hill. He was already within shooting distance so my dad squeezed the trigger of his 11-87 and the nitro hevishot did its job. The first gobbler of the day was down by 5:30am! We forgot the camera at the truck so my dad walked back to get it and I sat by the downed bird and did a little more calling on my thunder gut slate. When my dad came back he told me he heard a turkey gobble not too far from the truck so we took a few pictures and started to walk towards where he heard the last gobble. We didn't get no more than 100 yards and we heard a gobble almost on top of us so we immediately found two trees to setup on. My dad set up about 10 yards behind me and did some clucks and purrs on his new Thunder gut slate and within minutes a had a strutting turkey in front of me about 40 yards away. The problem was there was a falling tree between me and the turkey and I could not get a clear view of his head. I had to watch him walk out of view but luck was on our side this morning and he reappeared to my right at 32 steps and he stuck his head up high and that was all I needed for my new 11-87 and my Winchester HV #5's did the job and we were walking out of the woods with two gobblers by 6:40am. This was by far the best morning we had together. Two separate setups that worked perfectly. This almost never happens to us once let alone twice in 2 hours.
We will be getting the pictures developed today so I will post them soon.
Thanks
Zackary
