Turkey calling

How aggressive do you USUALLY consider yourself on turkeys? When they first get going in the morning, do you use aggressive cackles and yelps to get their attention? Or do you usually give one yelp and if you get answer, shut-up and just use occasional purrs, putts and leaf rustling. Or somewhere in between? Or do you take the birds temperature and act accordingly?

I haven't been much but I think I consider myself more on the aggressive side. I guess I haven't learn to sit there and let it happen for me!!

hunting pressure

Hunting pressure seems to affect birds more than aggressive calling. On morning stands i usually use a hoot owl call to locate and then try to get into range before they attempt to fly off roost. This will put you close to the toms so that when they fly down to locate hens you can be first in line. Only 20 days left, I can't wait!!!!

Youth season opens in Kansas next weekend. I'll be taking Deadeye Drew to Reno Co. for the opener. Hopefully I'll have pics. We have a deer stand overlooking the area where we'll be set up. It should be fun.
