Jigging for walleye

Just curious what size jig heads you prefer when vertical jigging for walleye? Depending on weather conditions, I generally use 1/4oz. Might have to go a bit heavier if the water is rough.

I like to use the lightest jig I can get away with. I have used as small as 1/32oz and as big as a 1/2oz. Wind is the big player here.

thanks for posting walleye4!

Can I ask why you say wind is a factor for jig size?

In lighter winds, I will use a lighter jig. Reason for this is because most of the lakes I fish are pretty clear water and most of the time the walleyes are pretty finicky. With the lighter jig, my livebait stands out a little better than on a bigger jig.
