Walleye rigs

Last year we had very good success walleye fishing with Macks lures. I'm not sure if you guys have ever tried them before, but they are probably my go to lure or "confidence builder". Take a look at their site. I personally like the wedding rings in chartruse and/or orange tipped with a crawler or leach. We generally run these off of bottom bouncers and drift them or slow troll.

I've never had much luck drifting, we always troll and usually do pretty well using the older storm lures. I'll give these a try next time we go(hopefully soon) and let you know how it goes.

follow the lake report

Most often the canton lake report reads,(walleye are excellent using night crawlers and drifting). Not that divers don't work. Most people who have trouble drifting because of lack of knowledge of the lake. Before you can drift succesfully you must first know where to drift. Knowing where the fish are is as important as having line on your pole. A good fish finder can turn any fishing trip around in a hurry. Walleye are difficult fish to catch!!! You must use light tackle and stay ready. The slightest pull will trigger them to release the bait, and not bite again. Iv'e have had my best luck fishing from the rocks with small live perch, ( one of walleye's favorite baits). Good luck and stick with what works.
