I tried a search and did not come up with very good results. Maybe someone can help me with this. My hunting partners and I are examining the benefits between making a long-tail mud motor versus buying a frame fab kit versus just buying a new one from a local manufacture.

Anyone out there ever make there own? If so, do you need a vertical or horizontal mount? Do you recommend doing anything different? Can you point me to some plans? One of the guys is a welder by trade, the other builds custom motorcycles so we are (hopefully) covered on the actual building of it.

We are looking to go 25-30HP with either a Kohler to Kawasaki motor.

Any help would be appreciated, please no spam or flame and if needed, move this to the right forum. I just wanted some good exposure to you knowledgeable folk.
