Description:
|
Operating the preserve, raising their own birds, training their own bird-dogs, providing jeeps and buggies for the clients plus locating guides, was a full-time, year-round occupation. At first, day hunts or half-day hunts were offered. Later, in the ' 80's, Windel bought out his brother's share of the Preserve and decided to go on a membership basis only. By this time, overnight accommodations, plus meals were offered. At the present time, 12 overnight guests can be accommodated in the Lodge and the 2 cabins, all which overlook the 30 acre pond, stocked with bream and bass. There is a total of 9 ponds located on what is now approximately 600 acres of beautiful, mature pine forests. Marsh Hunting Preserve offers only bobwhite quail hunting and it is as close to wild bird hunting as you will find anywhere. Members come from all over the United States and most have been a member for 20 years or more.
Our guides are young men who are (almost all) students at Georgia Southern University and are of the highest caliber. Most of them have grown up hunting and fishing and with a love of the outdoors.
Maybe not a "Field of Dreams" but definitely a "Forest of Dreams".
