Twistflower Ranch consists of 6000 acres of diverse habitat in northwest Crockett County, Texas. This area of Texas is one of the few places where both whitetail and mule deer can be found and hunted. In addition to whitetail and mule deer hunts, we offer dove, quail, turkey, javelina and predator hunts. Our accommodations are first class with a 2400 square foot lodge building where we provide meals and guests play pool on our full size table, and watch big screen TV. The view from our lodge is endless across miles of unspoiled West Texas. Each of our cabins has a fireplace, whirlpool tub and separate shower, plus a front porch that overlooks one of the canyons at Twistflower.
We are unique in that our business is family owned and operated. My son and I are the guides who have hunted the property ourselves for years. So we know where the game are and have positioned the hunting locations to take advantage of the various habitats that are on the ranch. We have “mapped” the location of over fifty quail coveys (both blues and bobwhites), and know the location of all the turkey roosts, as well as the “beddings” of javelina families
We provide the hunting experience on Friday afternoon, Saturday and Sunday morning. We provide all lodging, meals, ranch transportation, guide service, and game cleaning and packaging. We provide supper on Friday and Saturday, breakfast and lunch on Saturday and Sunday. We have more than a dozen deer stands, so we seldom use the same hunting location for whitetail hunts on consecutive weekends. We have specially outfitted vehicles (seats on top) to use on our mule deer hunts to enhance the spotting of the mule deer bucks.
We have owned the ranch for over eight years and have been providing weekend hunts for the past two seasons. The success rate for our guests who have hunted whitetail and mule deer has been extremely high (in excess of 90%). The ranch itself began operation more than 100 years ago, and has numerous Native American sites including rock art that is thousands of years old. I am a certified Master Naturalist and environmental engineer who provides guided tours during non-hunting times for guests who are interested
