The St. Joe River - that almost says it all! This scenic river, located in the panhandle of Idaho, has long been known for it's great fly fishing and enchanting beauty. If it's quality fishing, superb scenery and outstanding food that you're looking for, St. Joe Outfitters and Guides can take you there.
Our base of operations, the rustic St. Joe Lodge, is ideally located five miles past the road's end. Travel from our base camp at road's end to the Lodge is by horseback or foot only. Here, the river is congressionally designated a "Wild River", no roads, no motorized vehicles, no phones.
Fishing on this part of "the Joe" is catch-and-release only, using artificial flies and lures with single barbless hooks. Whether novice or experienced, the native cutthroat trout that inhabit this water will give you a lifetime of memories.
St. Joe Outfitters & Guides is a family owned and operated business. Will and Barbara Judge, along with their son Wyatt, have been involved with this outfit since 1985. In the winter of 1989 they purchased the business and have worked hard to maintain a quality operation, offering first-rate trips based on friendly service and an obvious love of the backcountry.
This outfitting business has been around in one form or another since the 1940's, when the Lodge was built. It has had many different names over the years; St. Joe Lodge, St. Joe Hunting & Fishing Lodge, St. Joe Hunting & Fishing Camp, and with the sale of the hunting portion of the business in 1998, St. Joe Outfitters & Guides.
Our focus now is summer activities, primarily quality fly fishing, complimented by home-cooked meals, served family style.
